China announces “Strategic Partnership” with Syria

China’s Xi Jinping Announces “Strategic Partnership” With Syria during talks with Bashar al-Assad in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.

President Xi Jinping calls for the lifting of sanctions from Syria and encourages its rebuilding. This sends a clear message to the West especially the US in interfering on sovereignty of different countries.

“China opposes any unlawful military presence on Syrian soil and calls for the lifting of sanctions!”: Xi Jinping

Whether this could snowball to a strong opposing force against the West considering the position of Russia and its close relationship with China, only the future will tell.

Recall that the Syrian civil war started in 2011 by the Syrian Arab Republic led by Syrian president Bashar al-Assad and various domestic and foreign forces that oppose both the Syrian government and each other, in varying combinations.
