Federal universities in Nigeria remain tuition- free says President Bola Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said that all federal universities in the country remain tuition free.

According to CNN, the Presidential Spokesman, Dele Alake, in a statement on Wednesday, said some universities only recently announced “discretionary charges” for hostel accommodation, registration, laboratory, amongst others.

“They are not tuition fees, “he said.

“For avoidance of doubts, federal universities in Nigeria remain tuition- free.”

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to his promise of ensuring that every Nigerian, regardless of the economic situation of their parents, had access to quality tertiary education.”

The Presidency maintained that the implementation of the Student Loans scheme recently signed into law by the president will go into implementation ahead of the next academic session in September.
