Kiernan Forbes was killed along with his close friend, the chef and entrepreneur Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane. The pair are
thought to have been on their way to a nightclub for a performance as part of Forbes’ birthday celebrations when they were
shot. The motive of the killing is being investigated.
Police in the province had yet to officially comment on the incident, but according to IOL, AKA was standing outside the
Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting. Two unknown cars are believed to have opened fire just before
10pm.Social media posts said AKA was due to perform at a Durban night club, YUGO, where he was expected to perform as part
of his birthday celebrations.
A tweet by @theNETng said, “Hours before he was shot, AKA and his friends shared a series of posts of their activities on
IG, from the barbing salon to the restaurant where he was reportedly attacked. His death has sparked debates about attack
on rappers after sharing their live location online.”
