Nigerians, we need to understand that athletes and entertainers are all paid for their talent. Was he not paid during his playing time?
If after they have earned money and they misused it, don’t blame Nigeria, the government, or society when consequence catches up with them. Pelé was not taken care of by Brazil he is only being celebrated around the world because of his achievements in the game.Pelé invested his money and took care of himself. That an ageing footballer is suffering is not a nation’s shame or responsibility.
Please we should not encourage sportsmen to have an entitlement mentality that if they play for Nigeria, Nigeria owes them a living or support for life. They should all invest their money 💰 while playing so they can have a place to lean on during rainy days. Did he give back to the society during his playing days?
Come to think of it now Celebrities are spending a whooping of about #350 million on a single ride living luxury and flamboyant life style, maybe 30yrs later if they are poor they will start calling Nigerians (government)to be of helping hand forgetting when he was squandering his resources all by himself without investing.
Nigeria and Nigerians are not under OBLIGATION to help it’s OPTIONAL.
