012/03-23/E.6046).
Please be informed that the “Ok to Board” procedure has been terminated for students planning
to study at the universities of the TRNC, who also happen to be citizens of 57 countries as specified in
Appendix-1. We have also been informed that the airports are required to obtain a Transit Visa even if
they do not leave the transit halls. With the relevant correspondence, we have also been informed of the
requirement for the said students to obtain a Transit Visa, even if they do not leave the transit lounges
of Turkish airports.
In this context, as a result of the discussions held between the Ministry of Interior and the
Directorate General of Migration Management of the Republic of Turkey, it is required that the YÖKAS
records of students currently studying in universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
(TRNC) and who have completed their legal permit processes be accurate in order for their
registrations to be taken into account for the said persons be exempted from the transit visa application.
The information and documents pertaining to students coming to our country for new
registration and the current students who have not renewed their student residence permits or have
incurred penalties will be checked through YÖKAS. Since these students will be subject to the transit
visa procedure, it is of utmost importance that the information and documents on YÖKAS are complete
and accurate.
It has been communicated to us in the attached letter that if the information and documents
pertaining to the aforesaid students on YÖKAS are found to be accurate and complete, the Directorate
General of Migration Management of the Republic of Turkey will facilitate the “Transit Visa”
procedures for students.
Authorized visa intermediary companies designated by the Republic of Turkey and consulates
where procedures can be carried out in the aforementioned countries are listed in Att-2 for international
students from the 57 countries who intend to come to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC),
subject to the discretion of the Directorate General of Migration Management of the Republic of Turkey.
In light of this information, in order to avoid any inconvenience for our students, it is of utmost
importance that the students’ information and documents on YÖKAS are complete. The student
information and documents that have been previously submitted and/or will be submitted should be
urgently checked through the interface previously provided and any missing information and
documents should be promptly completed.
